How You can improve Alexa Ranking of your Website
Alexa is well known for providing statistics for websites. You can use this ranking tool to measure the number of visitors to your website and track them all. The ideal scenario would be if all your visitors had the Alexa tool bar installed in their browser, but to honest, most of them don’t have installed. That’s why we can’t say that Alexa is a real indicator of visitors count to your website, it is just a subset of them.
Looking at this, Alexa addresses some of these concerns as:
o Traffic rankings of one lac and above should not be regarded as authentic one.
o The closer a site gets to #1, the more trustful its traffic ranking becomes.
So we can not state that Alexa ranking is an accurate ranking system, it is important only if you plan to monetize your website. Instead, you may use some white hat techniques to improve the Alexa rank of your website.
You should Append an Alexa Ranking Widget to your Site
When you set up this widget on your site, it will help to increase your ranking, since all visitors could be tracked with this widget. As a good practice installing this widget, try to install it at the very bottom of your page, in case your page takes time to load with this widget.
Set up your website as your homepage. You can also increase your website ranking with this practice, since all the visits are tracked by Alexa toolbar.
If your ranking is too poor, you can use Alexa auto-surfing websites, since these websites will send traffic to your site when the visitor has the toolbar installed.
Spread the word so everybody that visits your websites, besides all of your friends, are aware of the benefits to install Alexa toolbar in their sites and browsers.
Ask to the experts. If you join groups, forums and discussions, you can ask to the experts and tech-savvy people to pay a visit your website and ask for opinion, that way, you will have your site visit and a good feedback for people who will give you an honest advice.
I hope this will help you if you improve one or two tips, so you can have your website ranking rise and your visits to your site more consistent.

Some Tips for Optimizing Your Internet Business for Search Engines
An online business could be anything from shopping sites to blogs. As long as you have a website where you intend to sell something, you need to become friendly with search engines. What exactly is a search engine? A search engine is what a person would use to look for things online. Examples of these are Google, Yahoo and MSN. Websites like these are popular because people often use them. They are commonly the first sites that people see when they go online.
Optimizing a website for search engines is a common practice online. Most businesses want to do search engine optimization because this is easy enough, and there are so many services out there offering SEO. People who are looking for things to buy naturally go surfing. If umbrellas are what you sell, someone who wants to buy umbrellas must be able to find you.
Your ranking will drop if your content is not original. If your content is not unique, you risk not being indexed in the search engines.
When people try looking for certain words, they type a keyword on the search engine and look at what comes up. In our example, if someone typed in ‘red umbrella’ and your website contains the phrase on several pages, you may appear on the search engine results pages. Original content about this topic will set you apart from all the other sites selling umbrellas. A real human being’s habits is mimicked by search engines, which means there’s no getting around the rules.
You can try competing for one keyword for your site. A keyword is important for your link building planning. Creating articles around the keyword is easier if you have a plan. Articles created with these keywords can be distributed online for traffic generation. Before you go for link-building strategies offered by SEO companies, try to come up with your own plan. You see, SEO is simple if you don’t clutter your brain with useless information.

Server hosting a timeline
Back as far as the 1950′s mainframes were being used- what would later be known as dedicated servers. These servers would run critical processing tasks like data manipulation. We only have to go as far back as the 1990′s when the same setups were being used. It was when websites and the world wide web became rife, that dedicated servers became a well know phrase. And so it is, dedicated servers evolved into what we have as we speak.
The description of what a server is has not changed much over the last couple of decades on what content the server serves up. Back in the 90′s server hosting was only truly employed for email and backups. Then as business changed and the internet became more wide spread more and more web servers were put online to cope with this new demand. As technology develops, so will the demand for dedicated server hosting. Just look at how Google has changed business and server hosting.
Over time, server OS software has changed. However has always been a much more diverse area unlike with desktops. Windows is favored less than Linux as Linux is considered right or wrongly to be more secure. Many are free but some top quality are paid for options depending on what you are wishing to do.
Server hardware and desktop hardware have been developed at the same rate. If you needed multiple CPU’s you would need a mother board that supported multiple CPUs and have the money to fill them. These days many servers will still support multiple physical CPUs. However most do not need this with the introduction of dual and quad core CPUs. Soon we wil see the 6 core and 8 core CPU’s.
RAM demand has increase as technology has advanced. In the old days, the number of megabytes of RAM you had could be counted on one hand. These days with many servers you will battle to count the number of gigabytes of RAM it has on two hands! The type of RAM servers use has always been different usually including features for error correcting and buffering to make certain recurrent accessing features quicker.
The normal trend, is whatever is being used as a server now, will be used as the average desktop in around 18 months.
So where will dedicated server hosting go in the future? You can bet the hardware will be infinitely quicker. What happens to server hosting, depends on the next big thing on the internet. Look at how Facebook changed the way the internet worked. The next big websites will most likely shape the way server hosting evolves.
